The Tidhar Design Story – Meaning in Every Form
Tidhar Design is more than just a design studio; it is a creative sanctuary that bridges cultures, materials, and people. We are two brothers — Hadar and Tomer — who believe that even an everyday object can be a work of art, carrying within it depth, memory, and identity.
Our story is rooted in a long family legacy of mastery and creation. Our work is a contemporary chapter in a lineage of “Master Builders”: our grandfather, Israel, was a master plasterer and artisan, and our father, Elimelech (the company’s namesake), was a renowned expert in construction and craftsmanship. Together, they passed down a legacy of uncompromising precision and a deep understanding of raw materials.
Complementing this technical mastery is the poetic spirit of the Adaki family, to which we belong—a family of celebrated poets and creators who have enriched Jewish-Yemenite culture for generations. In our studio, the “grit” of the construction site meets the soul of the artisan, bridging our rich heritage with today’s fast-paced, modern world.
The Visionaries
It all began with the curiosity of Hadar Tidhar, the studio’s Chief Designer. Hadar is an independent product designer and a lecturer at the prestigious Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art, as well as Sapir Academic College. Drawing deep inspiration from his family’s history, his designs explore ancient traditions and grant them contemporary relevance, seamlessly blending the old with the new, the authentic with the modern.
Complementing this artistic vision, Tomer Tidhar, the company’s CEO, provides the strategic and managerial insight that transforms this vision into a tangible reality. With multi-disciplinary knowledge and extensive experience in the public sector, Tomer developed a multi-dimensional approach to management that champions innovation while remaining deeply connected to ancestral roots.
The Desert Heart
The heart of our studio beats in the Negev desert. Production takes place at our boutique workshop, “Ran-El Industries Ltd.”, which has operated in the Yeruham Industrial Park since 2000 under the leadership of Roni Ben-Yishai. Roni is a master of his craft and an expert in material engineering, achieving high-end finishes with uncompromising precision. Through this collaboration, we transform raw industrial materials into objects of aesthetic significance. Every piece that leaves our hands carries with it the quiet of the desert and the precision of handmade craftsmanship.
